Hats Off To A New Year

I've spent a lot of time on the couch during the past couple of days.  (And why not?  It's my holiday, after all!)  We've been making use of our Netflix account and had a Parks & Recreation marathon yesterday.  The result: lotsa time for hooking.

Here are the hats I've made in the past 24-ish hours.
These hats are the result of a Facebook conversation.  The baby beanie was great for Baby McDougall, but I missed sending along something for big sister, Ivy...and apparently she tried to make the newborn beanie fit her head.  Poor kid!

Turns out that three skeins of yarn go a long way when making hats for tiny types.  I'm going to keep going and make some embellishments for these hats and then see how many more I can get before the yarn runs out.

Not all the hats are finished, of course, but the earflap hat is good to go.  It's supposed to fit a toddler, but I'm a bit worried that it's a bit large.  (If I really squeeze, it fits on my head!)  I like random stripes and I think red and purple are a great colour combo.

It was hard to find a bright spot on this rainy day.  The purple looks almost black.  It's grapier than it looks here.
I'll post the final results of the other hats later.  Today being the New Year and all, I resolved to spend some time cleaning the basement and preparing a tasty dinner (ribs have been simmering in Guinness all day!  yummy!) so the finishing touches will have to wait. ;)

  1. Great hats. I followed you here from you post on the pattern for the ear flap hat. I am glad I did, I wanted to make the toddler hat for my 3 year old nephew and worried it would be too small. All of them look spectacular. Nice job.
